idk about the one from petco but i kno if u go to certin vets they can do it and it takes a few weeks for it to come back and i kno that one works
As far as I’m concerned NO.
Its a bunch of hog wash. Since all pure breed dogs are a mix of many other dogs. Its impossiable to take a swab and send it off and they tell you whats in your dog’s make up.
Now on the other hand if you have both the dogs’ parents, or siblings. Or maybe you bred a litter but the dog next door jumped the fence and "May" have gotten a chance to breed with your female, then you can send out for parental DNA testing, both the AKC and UCK offer such services. But i work with a vet, and have seen results come back on a dog that was Lab/Pitbull as Yorkie/Borzio/Retriver. Since we know who the parents of this dog are the test results are way off the mark. But your welcome to toss your money away or find a person trained in breed traits and dogs that can give you an honest/educated guess. I study breeds and know about 300 by sight. I also show, train, breed, groom and rescue dogs. Its a labor of love. Just be happy you have a nice dog.

^^^^^ I think SOMEBODY is a little full of themselves…that being said, it makes sense that it would work since there are over 100 confirmed breeds due to specific genetic markers. Of course sometimes labs can make mistakes, which is what I’m betting happened to the master of everything dog above me.
Dragonfry is right: You can go to amazon reviews (there are 81), or any number of other markers to find that the lab didn’t “make a mistake”, as brownbobo6 claims (since he or she knows so much — ah-em). Our dog is half american bulldog; his mother is certified. His father is a mix, and we wanted to get information from that side. There was zero American bulldog in the wisdom panel results: in fact, the two results that came through were for very small breeds (and the dog’s father is not small at all!).
But don’t take my word for it: trust all the professionals like Dragonfry and others who have written in to amazon and elsewhere explosing these tests for the unfortunate scam that they are. We only wish we had looked into them before wasting our own money.
