Has anyone ever done a DNA test on their dog?

Just curious, one of my dogs is a mix from a shelter, so we have no idea what he is except a little bit border collie. I don't think I would ever do it but I was wondering if anyone else has, it seems interesting to me that you could find out that kind of thing.
I posted pics, I wasn't going to but why not I guess.
And I did check around, it's like 0 and I don't care so like I said I wouldn't do it. Just wondering if anyone else has, geeeeez.

aaw- I dont know! but you just reminded me, my yellow lab had puppies and the dad was chocolate. All of the dogs were black so my husband said Rocco (the male) wanted a DNA test!! I laughed!

thought about this myself for my little mix. pretty sure she’s a manchester/dachshund x. i wonder about potential health problems.
most of these folks are good at figuring breeds. can you post pics?

There is no benefit in knowing your dogs DNA. It will not identify the breed. It will not increase its love nor diminish the size of its poop. DNA from different breeds may be more similar than DNA from unrelated but same breed dogs. No breed is really pure and different breeds may be born from one mother at the same time.
The people down the street from me had this done. It is not something they do in our state. The samples has to be sent to CA for results. They did get a list of what breeds are in the dog. The problem with this testing is, normally a dog is not 2 breeds but many more. With the years of not altering pets random dogs have been breeding and the dog down the street is actually a mix of 11 different dogs somewhere down the line. I think it is kind of neat to know but if you love you dog then that is all that matters I suppose.
