I only know a sliver of my family tree. I know there's a science to tracking DNA profiles for ancestry. Is this accessible to anyone in the general public?

For the longest time I have been curious about my ancestry. My parents do not know much, and I am eager to trace my roots back as far as possible. Any help on where I can go and find this out?

I come from a cultural and ethnically mixed family. As far as we know we're spanish, french and irish, but it all seems like vague information seeing as how most of my oldest relatives have passed. I'd like to find living relatives and know the true origins of my ethnic background. Can anyone recommend a good ancestry dna website to order a kit, or any other recommendations. I come from a small family, and i thought it would be neat to find more living relatives out there. Thanks!

What is the best DNA ancestry business?
i have got over 8 (and counting) different nationalities in my blood, and have always wondered who i am in a historical sense. supposedly, icould be related to Attila Khan, and or Vladimir Dracul (funny, I thought so too). Well anyway, I had heard of the DNA ancestry project, and it sounded fascinating, and was just wondering if there are any that are better.

my brother took a Y-DNA ancestry test and the markers used, STR's, will go back a certain amount of centuries. How far back do they go?

what do you think is her ancestry or ethnic background?
white,african,middle eastern,spanish,native american
% would be great.
Just go to this link:

If DNA testing does not have the capability to do this, are there alternative options (exluding oral history) or is all hope lost? Even though it is labeled 'DNA by ancestry', is it possible that if Native American ancestors are not "that close" the test may make an error and accidentally look over them, resulting in a miscalculated percentage or "0.0%" Native American blood?

In the MRCA (most recent common ancestor) If the test says you have DNA in common with an ethnic group that samples were taken from one group in the United States(it's state specific) and the percentage was one of the higher percentages could you accurately assume the ancestry comes with in the past 200 years?
I've taken the test already. My family may be some tough cookies to convince of the results

I know that my ancestry is mixed and I have no way to determine who my ancestors were by asking family members. I just want to find out what things I could be mixed with by doing DNA testing thats accurate and at a reasonable price that is not too expensive. I don`t know what test I should take.
