    Coding DNA has codes for proteins.
    Noncoding DNA does not have the codes for proteins.
    The noncoding DNA has repeats that are repeated several thousand times and the number of repeats varies from individual to individual. This property is used for finger printing.

    coding DNA actually codes for a protein that can be used. Non-coding DNA doesn’t code for a protein, but the amount of non-coding DNA segments in each person varies. Thus, it can be used for fingerprinting.
