My friend has been in jail for a year now. He was arrested in california for robberies where clothes was found at the scene the district attorney keeps saying he is waiting for them to come back. Could it be possible that the DA want him to take a deal because my friend wants the dna results but it seem like it's taking forever.

No. Pre-trial custody is always being reviewed by the Court and if they felt the DA was stalling then they would have ended it long ago. The simple fact is that, based upon how busy the State crime lab is, things do not get done anywhere near as fast as it is on TV. It can take 8 months plus to get DNA results back on an item, longer if they need to use any specialized processes on it to recover the DNA. The time starts once things are sent off for analysis too so without knowing when it was sent in I can’t say more.
