The labs all require up-front payment. If the state is not paying for it, insist that you each pay half, with it being court-ordered that she reimburse you your half if she is wrong about you being daddy. We have done it this way several times in the law firm where I work. The flip side is that you may have to reimburse her for her half if you are daddy, but it prevents you from putting out the extra dough if you're not, and extra time to come up with it if you are.

You can go to court and fight it and have a court ordered paternity test or if he knows for a fact that hes not the father and doesnt want to waste a bunch of time and money with the court system he can pay for it himself and submit the results to the court.

You may be able to get the court to pay since the child support is court ordered, but that would be a long shot

unusually the one that requests it has to pay.,

I would think that whom ever is requesting or fighting for paternity has to pay. In this case, she says he's dad. If he says he isn't the dad or isn't sure, he may well want pay for the testing to keep himself from paying child support he doesn't owe.

My wifes ex denied being the father of her son. The Florida Child Support Bureau required him to take a DNA test and he also had to pay for it.

If it is ordered through the court:
If he is the father, he pays
If he is not the father, she pays

The court fronts the cost of the test. When paternity is decided if the man tested is the father he pays for the test and court costs and if he is proven not to be the father the charges go to the mother.

If he is contesting that the child is his, he pays. You have to come up with the money at the time of the testing. You can shop around for the cheapest, but most state agencies have a place they use. It can run from $400 to $600.
